Neighborhood Business Highlight: Cedar Bucket

Owner, Greg Driver and his family.

Oxford’s One-Stop Shop for Student Resale, Storage, and Moving

If you're a student in Oxford—or a parent helping your college kid transition between semesters—you know how stressful move-out day, summer storage, and finding decent furniture can be. That’s where Cedar Bucket comes in. This locally owned, family-run business is making student life easier with charm, efficiency, and a whole lot of Southern hospitality.

Founded by Ole Miss alumni, Greg Driver, Cedar Bucket was created with a simple mission: to make student life easier with reliable service, practical options, and neighborly care. As Oxford continues to grow and evolve, Cedar Bucket remains committed to supporting students through every transition—whether they’re moving in, moving out, or somewhere in between.

Conveniently located just off Highway 6, Cedar Bucket offers a complete solution for students and families. They provide climate-controlled, secure storage with full-service pick-up and delivery. Whether you’re heading home for the summer, starting an internship, or studying abroad, their team will handle everything for you. They’ll come to your dorm or apartment, professionally wrap your items with industrial-grade materials, and safely store them in their facility until you're ready to move back in.

And if you're not needing storage but just need help moving, Cedar Bucket has you covered with affordable, hourly moving services—available with or without a truck. Their rates are straightforward: $175/hour for two movers and a truck or $150/hour without a truck, with a 1.5-hour minimum. A $100 deposit secures your spot and takes the stress out of last-minute planning.

Cedar Bucket also offers a convenient ship-ahead service—a game-changer for students moving in from out of town. You can ship your belongings directly to their warehouse before you even arrive in Oxford. Once you're settled, they'll deliver everything to your door. It's an easy, no-fuss solution for students flying or traveling long distances.

If you're decluttering or moving out, Cedar Bucket’s consignment program is another great option. They'll pick up your gently used furniture or decor for free, sell it online and in-store, and send you 50% of the final sale price. The consignment window lasts 120 days with gradual discounts, giving your items plenty of time to sell while earning you some extra cash.

The business itself is rooted in Oxford’s history. Cedar Bucket is housed in the former Cedar Bucket Furniture Co. warehouse, a 20,000-square-foot space now transformed into a storage facility and storefront. Out front stands a beloved local landmark—the world’s largest cedar bucket, towering seven feet tall and holding over 1,500 gallons of water. It’s a symbol of tradition, now serving a new generation of Oxford residents.

From summer storage to helping you furnish your next place, Cedar Bucket is one of Oxford’s most reliable and student-friendly local businesses—and we’re proud to share their story at Neighborhood Realty.
